Population

At the 2002 Romanian census, the town had 8926 inhabitants, of whom 8853 were Romanians, 57 were Hungarians, and 15 Roma.<ref>2002 Census data for Întorsura Buzăului</ref>

Geography and climate

The town is located at 750m altitude, in a depression, surrounded by Întorsurii, Ciucaș and Siriu mountains. Due to its location, Întorsura Buzăului registers the lowest temperatures in Romania every year. In January 2006 the lowest registered temperature was Template:Convert for 2 consecutive days.

Local festival

The Ciobănaşul (Template:Lang-en) Annual Festival takes place in Întorsura Buzăului in the last Sunday of September and lasts for one day. At the festival, visitors come from the town and the surrounding villages, and even from other counties. In 2006, Romanian President Traian Băsescu attended the festival. During the festival the attendants can consume Romanian traditional foods and drinks and are entertained with Romanian popular music.
