Abingdon
From World travel guide
Abingdon is in Oxfordshire on the River Thames about 7 miles south of Oxford. Abingdon was the county town of Berkshire until 1870. It became part of Oxfordshire when local government was re-organised in 1974. It is a busy market town with a good choice of shops, pubs and restaurants. It was the home of MG motor cars which used to be built at the MG Works, which is now a business center.
