The Ajanta Caves are a world-famous complex of caves containing sacred Buddhist relics and art. They are situated in Maharashtra State in South India.

The complex consists of 30 caves, with the first Buddhist monasteries being constructed in the 2nd century CE. The frescoes and carvings express a profound sense of the sacred that have inspired people throughout the ages. The caves are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. .

By plane

Aurangabad is the nearest airport, and has flights from Delhi and Mumbai.

By train

Jalgaon is the nearest station (40kms). Most express trains stop at Jalgaon.

By taxi/bus

Taxis and state transport department buses ply the route from Jalgaon to Ajanta.

  • The amazing carvings in the caves and recesses. The caves are open from 9AM to 5:30PM Tues-Sun (closed on national holidays)
