Understand
Alberobello is a small city with the train station, a main square, and an old cathedral. Just east of the main square is the Trulli Zone, a village with a few hundred old trulli limestone huts with conical roofs.The Trulli Zone is a UNESCO world heritage site.
Some of the trulli are now used for stores, restaurants, and lodging. But many are still inhabited by locals, which are very friendly to visitors. Alberobello is a tourist attraction, but it is not overrun and most visitors are italian.
Get in
Take the local train from Bari, Sud-Est line from the platform after platform 10 in Bari Central station, 1h30min.Tickets are sold on the platform for E4.
There are a few train connections to Tarano a day.
From the station follow the left street, go left at Garibaldi and continue to the man square. Then go down left and you will se the trulli Zone.

The trulli zone has many souvenir shops selling trulli models etc.
Enoteka sells local goods such as cheese, sausage, spreads, cookies, wine grappa. Some give you small samples or sell you a full glass of wine for a couple of Euros.

- Gallo d'estate [2]. Tel: +39 347 3335678. Service is slow, the house wine cheap but bad, the food is OK and the outdoor terrace is a beautiful place to eat.

- Trullidea [3], Via Monte Negro 15, tel: +39 0804323860, email info@trulidea.it. Trullidea rents out real trullis in the Zona Trulli for €86 a night. The trullis have a main room, a bedroom, a small kitchen with a fridge, and a small bathroom. This is a stay you will remember.
