Berlin/Prenzlauer Berg

From World travel guide

Jump to: navigation, search

The former East Berlin district of Prenzlauer Berg is one of the most creative and cultural districts in Berlin. Prenzlauer Berg escaped major bombing in the war and many of it's wide streets are quite leafy and green. There are plenty of clubs, bars, art galleries and specialist shops. Compared to other European capitals, rents are relatively cheap in Prenzlauer Berg (and Berlin in general).

Nearly everywhere the clubs and bars are open till 5 o'clock.

  • The KulturBrauerei is a complex that was once a beer brewery. There you can find the Jazz Cafe, the SODA restaurant where you can enjoy a fine meal of insects, and a Club, Club 23. The KulturBrauerei also has several cinemas showing alternative movies, the Kesselhaus concert house and one of the best shop for instruments in Berlin, the "Sound and Drumland". To get there, get off at S-Bahn station Schönhauser Alle or U-bahn Station Eberswalder Strasse (the closer one).
