Cristuru Secuiesc (Template:Lang-hu) is a town in Harghita County, Romania. The town was part of the former county of Udvarhely during the Kingdom of Hungary.

Administratively 2 villages belong to the town:

  • Beteşti/Betfalva (joined the town after breaking away from the commune of Mugeni (Bögöz) in 2004.)
  • Filiaş/Fiatfalva

Demographics

As of the Romanian census of 2002, the town has a population of 9,672 of whom 9,201 (95.1%) are Székely Hungarians forming an absolute majority. 46% of its inhabitants are Reformed, 36% are Unitarian, and 14.3% are Roman Catholic.

Sights

The Unitarian Gimnazium (secondary school) was established in the 18th century. The Catholic church has medieval murals.
