Kudlee Beach

This beach is about 20 minutes walk from the town, secluded and very picturesque. Because you have to walk to Kudlee Beach it is quiet, just a few tourists and very few locals. Some Nepalese run a really good restaurant from a straw and bamboo hut on the beach. The sea is safe and the beach very clean. A it is secluded it is one of the few places in India where girls can go topless and guys just wear a string without any problems, on the other hand you might want to respect local customs and culture, especially since "secluded" is a relative term in India.

Accommodation on Kudlee is very basic, better to stay in Gokarna.

Kudlee is still quite unspoilt, but it is bound to develop as more people discover it.

  • Gokarna International is a reasonable place with single rooms from Rs.300 to full a/c doubles at Rs.650. "Om Resort" is a great new small luxury resort with suites at Rs.1500 per person per night. Set on a hilltop above the town, in a very peaceful garden with stunning views. It is also an ayuvedic centre. Even better now is a new resort called Seabird Resort, just across the road from Om Resort. A/c rooms are only Rs1000 and the views are even better.
