The Greater Toronto Area is centered on the city of Toronto, in Ontario, Canada.
The GTA extends westward to include Mississauga, Oakville and eastward to include Ajax-Pickering, Whitby and Oshawa.
The GTA is not legally defined but used as a catch-all reference.
