Understand
Ios is definitely the party island within the cyclades and very popular with people in their early twenties, but in the last 5 years it became popular also with late twenties, expecially from Italy.(Ios is a very popular destination after people got their highschool degree) Furthermore it is said that famous ancient poet Homer is buried on Ios though the exact location of his tomb cannot be told.
Get in
By sea
Ios can be reached best from Santorini or Paros or directly from Piraeus. Ferry boats and Highspeed catamaran services run daily from Piraeus. The cheapest lines is HELLENIC SEAWAYS , but there are many others like BlueStar(more expensive)or GAferries. For more informations about ferry lines in Greece Ferries.gr.
Get around
The islands has three major villages : Ormos (where the ferry port is), Hora (main city) and Milopotas a beach (one of the most beautiful beaches on Ios) close to Hora. In summer buses operate between those three villages. Additionally you can rent cars and motorcycles in Hora. Boats also run between major coastal towns on the island.

- Hora or Chora - The main village of Ios is very scenic with its small alleys and white-washed houses. During day Hora is a peaceful, quiet place while during night it is the main party zone on Ios.
Do
- Party - If you have decided to go for Ios, simply party. Hora has plenty of bars and clubs to have fun all night long.
- Watersports - In Milopotas you can go diving, do wind-surfing or water-skiing.
Eat
In Ios you have to eat something walking around, in Hora there are many "Gyros-pita", something like kebab; You can choose pork giros, chicken gyros, souvlaky and many others wondeful foods. You can try the best Gyros pita in Ios at "Georgies" near the church of Hora. In Ios there aren't good restaurants, they are expensive and the food is'nt really good.
Drink
Drinks in Ios are really cheap, you can drink everything, cocktails like White Russian are wonderful, you can drink beer of international brands, but it's better try Mithos Beer and AlphaBeer. The best way to spent a night drinking it's start with "the Dubliner", an Irish/Scottish style Pub outside the old city of Hora. After a cocktail you can walk around Hora, you can choose your preferite disco, pub or a simple place, where you want to spent some time, it depends by your taste, you can listen music, rock, hardrock, disco, hardcore, jazz...
Sleep
The most popular camping site is Far Out Camping in Milopotas, which has plenty of attractions during high seasons. (such as bungee jumping from a crane) In Milopotas there is another camping: PurplePig Star, it's cheaper than FarOut, the owners comes from Holland.
Get out
You may want to go for Manganari, a white-sand beach in the south-east of the island.
