- Catch a bus in Kanchanaburi to Sangkhlaburi. There are first (151 Baht - 4 hours) and second class (5 hours) Buses available as well as mini Buses (118 Baht - 4 hours).
- In Sangkhlaburi take a Pickup (green) all the way to the border. (30 Baht - 30-40 minutes).
- At the final destination of the Pickup you can either walk (head for the Three Pagodas and then turn right) to the border or take a motorbike. However you'll be very limited in what you'll be able to visit without a motorbike.
- At the Thai border you need a copy of your passport and 2 recent pictures of yourself. Don't worry that you have to leave your Passport with them.
- At the Myanmar border you will need 10 US$ or 500 Baht. Therefore it is suggested to change your Baht to US$ before leaving Kanchanaburi. Don't expect the border officials to know anything called Euro. There is also one Bank (Siam Commercial Bank) in Sangkhlaburi.
- Once in Myanmar you can take a look at a few temples as well as a market. None is really in any way very special. However there is one temple that is up on a hill, from where you get a great view across the border land.
- Back at the border you will receive your Passport back and will be able to head the same way back as you came.
There is also the possibility to take a bus directly from Kanchanaburi to the Three Pagodas Pass. An important note is that you will not receive a new Thai Visa, since technically you never left Thailand.

Three Pagodas Pass - the famous pass between Thailand and Myanmar.
From Kanchanaburi, there are 1st class (151 baht, 4 hours), 2nd class (5 hours) and minibuses (118 baht, 4 hours) to Sangkhlaburi. From Sangkhlaburi, take a green songthaew (30 baht, 30-40 minutes) all the way to the border. At the final songthaew stop either walk (head for the Three Pagodas and then turn right) or take a motorbike to the border (you'll be very limited in what you'll be able to visit without a motorbike).
At the Thai border you need a photocopy of your passport and 2 passport photos; your passport will be held at the checkpoint. At the Myanmar checkpoint you need USD10 (if paying with USD notes) or 500 baht (if paying with Thai currency) - therefore it's best to change some baht to USD before leaving Kanchanaburi. Don't expect the border officials to know about anything called Euro. There is also one bank (Siam Commercial Bank) in Sangkhlaburi. You only need USD for the Myanmar entry permit - once in Myanmar, Thai baht is accepted for everything else.
In Myanmar you can take a look at a few temples as well as a market. None is really in any way very special. However there is one temple that is up on a hill, from where you get a great view across the border land.
Back at the border your passport will be returned and you can head back the same way back as you came. There is also the possibility to take a bus directly from Kanchanaburi to the Three Pagodas Pass. Note that you will not receive any passport stamps (neither Thai exit or entry stamps, nor Myanmar entry or exit stamps) - hence this border crossing cannot be used for "visa runs".
