Lofoten is a group of islands in the northern part of Norway. It's often considered the most scenic part of Norway.

Understand

Although the summer of 2004 was very hot, travellers must remember that the Lofoten is above the polar circle. At night it may become cold and when the sun is not shining a warm sweater wouldn't be a luxury.

Get in

You can go by boat from Narvik to Svolvær (3.5 hours), or take the boat from Bodø. You can also come in from Bodø by plane to Leknes and Svolvær(30 min).

Get around

Most places can be reached by bus. Students get a 50% discount on long trips.
