Get in

There is a bus to Matera (1h, E4), train to Sibari (1h15min,E3.50) From the station there is 2Km to the beach (Lide). Take bus line 1, last bus at 20:25. E0.7 5-15 min.

Understand

There are old ruins in Metaponte. But the main attraction is the 1 km stretch of perfect beach with white powdery sand.

Do

The beach can be crowded with italiens, but once you get into the water there is plenty of room. The water gets deep only after you get 30-50m out and most italiens stay on the beach. You can rent parasols and beds, but there are many free strips.

Eat

• Le Sirene next to hotel Sacco at the center of the promenade. Great seaafood and pizza.

• Pic-nic A long stretch at the northern road to the promenade. There are barbeques and and small huts that sell pizza, panini, snacks etc.

Drink

The sheds right on the beach sells beer, limocelli for E2.

Sleep

• Hotel Sacco [1], at the centerpiee of the promenade. Clean, with bathroom, french balcony, AC, fridge, safe. E70 (E50 low season)for a double with breakfast, +20 for half board. Checkout at noon, which give you time for a morning swim and a shower at the hotel.

• Hotel Kennedy, On the bus route 100m before the beach.
