- Ace of Diamonds Mine NYS Route 28 within the village limits of Middleville. 1+ 315 891-3855 or 1+ 315 891-3896. This mine produces Herkimer Diamonds, actually a double-sided quartz that looks like diamonds. The mine allows visitors to collect quartz crystals from their site and will even rent rock hammers and sledge hammers to make excavation easier. Admission - 8 and over: $7.50, 7 and under: $3.00. Rentals - rock hammer: $1.00, sledge hammer: $3.00
