Năvodari is a town in Constanţa County, Dobrogea, Romania.

The name of the town means in Romanian "trawlers", hinting that it was originally a fishing village.

Navodari town replaced an ancient fishmongers' village some years ago. Today it is an important chemical and industrial town containing a chemical fertilizer factory, a factory for producing sugar, car repairs factory and PETROMIDIA factory specialized in petrochemical products.


Navodari town population is 33,702 inhabitants on 1st January 1996, compared to 5,500 inhabitants in 1968.
