Naxos is a Greek island in the Cyclades group, neighbouring Paros. It is the largest and most fertile of the Cyclades.

Get in

By sea

Ferry boats and Highspeed catamaran services run daily from Piraeus. The cheapest lines is HELLENIC SEAWAYS , but there are many others like BlueStar(more expensive)or GAferries. For more informations about ferry lines in Greece Ferries.gr.

By air

Olympic Airways operate a daily service from Athens.

Get around

Within the resorts walking is the best method of transport. Bus services operate between the towns, but for total freedom hire a car. Car hire is readily available in all towns and is reletively cheap.

If you come in Naxos you have to looking for wonderful beaches and wind. In August Naxos is full of surfers, from France and German, sometimes you meet somebody from Italy. Naxos is important also for its wondeful hills.

Eat

The best restaurant in Naxos is Paradiso, in Agia Anna, from Agia Anna you go south, white road, to Plaka. It is on the beach and has some table in the sand. They cook perfectly but they aren't the same when they serve, they are slow. Another restaurant is in the PLAKA Camping, is cheapest, but you can try the real greek cousine and atmosphere.

Drink

Naxos is famous for producing its own liqueur called Kitron. A Kitron is an exotic fruit which can be compared to lemons. In Naxos you can try Retsina, as in the rest of Greece, it is really delicious.

Sleep

About 1.5 km from the Naxos town you'll find Naxos Camping. Best is the PLAKACamping (7 euro for person and 2 euro for a tent in ago 2005), south of Agia Anna, it's quite, clean, and has a cheap restaurant (a plate from 3,5 euro) where you can eat wonderful and delicious greek specialities like Moussaka, souvlaki, feta... There is also MARAGAS Camping near Agia Anna, but the owners are rude.
