Understand

The North Shore is a relaxed, laid back area. The pace is much slower than in Honolulu and Wakiki. This is a very good area to come and relax. The beaches are wonderful but very popular. Especially when the surf is up!

Get in

From Wakiki: Take the H-1 ewa (west) to highway 78. Take 78 until it re-joins the H-1 near Aloha Stadium. Continue on the H-1 to exit 8A. You are now on the H-2. Stay on the H-2 and continue through the Schofield Barracks area. You will be on Highway 99. Follow 99 to the North Shore.

Get around

Highway 99 and Highway 83 are the main roads through the area. There is a bypass around Haleiwa called Joseph P Leong Highway which is useful in avoiding the two lane road through Haleiwa.
