Get in
Plymouth is accessible by car and is not quite an hour south of Boston on Hwy 93 or the lovely coastal Hwy 3. It is also about an hour and a quarter drive from Providence, RI which makes that a reasonable regional airport access to Southeastern Massachusetts.
By bus - take the Plymouth and Brockton Bus line, connecting Boston and the southeastern Massachusetts seaboard including Cape Cod. There is an express bus connecting to Logan airport in Boston.
Train - take the Plymouth/Kingston line from South Station on the MBTA Commuter Rail, until terminal at Plymouth station.
Get around
The Plymouth Rock Trolley has an all day fare and offers a 45-minute historical narrated tour loop in Plymouth.
See

Free parking, "not yet accessible" according to the website. Plymouth Harbor, including Plymouth Rock commemorating where Pilgrims landed; a reproduction of the Mayflower, ferryboats to Provincetown and whale-watching tours in the bay, and some good eats along the waterfront.

Attend a folk dance camp workshop at Pinewoods.
Visit Plimoth Plantation, a historical farm and educational site renowned among academic historians and history-recreation buffs alike. Gardeners will love Plimoth. This is a place to take a daytrip or even overnight, and has a lot of information and amusement to offer.
Captain John's Boats whale watching tours during the summer months are a delight.
