The Rio Doce region of Minas Gerais is bordered by the following regions: to the Northwest and North by Jequitinhonha-Mucuri, to the Northeast by the state of Bahia, to the East by the state of Espirito Santo, to the South by the Mata and to the Southwest by the Central region.
