EUR is a district in Rome that was built in the first years of the 1940s, close to the sea. It was built in a perfect fascist architectural style, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Fascism (Mussolini got the power in 1922, becoming Prime Minister). Its name means "Esposizione Universale di Roma" (Universal Exhibition of Rome); in fact it was also desidegned to host the International Exhibition in 1942, but this exhibition didn't take place because of the war.
