Shikotsu-Tōya National Park (支笏洞爺国立公園 Shikotsu-tōya-kokuritsukōen) is a national park in the central part of the island of Hokkaido, Japan.

Get in

Nearly 1000 square kilometers in size, the national park covers a sizable part of central Hokkaido. There are direct buses from Hokkaido's capital Sapporo, its airport at Chitose and the major port Tomakomai to the park.

Destinations

  • Lake Shikotsu — a volcanic caldera lake renowned for its transparent waters
  • Lake Toya — right next to Mt. Usu, one of Japan's most active volcanoes
  • Noboribetsu — the most famous hot spring resort in Hokkaido
