  • CIE / Irish Rail[1] runs trains throughout the day between Dublin and Sligo. The trip takes approximately 3 hours. €26 single, €32 return approx.
  • Bus Eireann Buses throughout the day from most major towns/cities. 4hours from Dublin, 2&1/2 from Galway. Half the price of the train but buses can be a bit stuffy!

Get around

See

  • Heapstown Stone Cairn A large and impressive cairn just outside of Sligo proper. Can't miss it from the city - look for the mountain with a unnatural mound on top. Views of Sligo are amazing from the summit.

Eat

  • The Garavogue. A highlight of the new development, the Garavogue sits predictably at the side of the Garavogue River. Downstairs is a contemporary styled pub, upstairs is an eatery specializing in contemporary styled seafood.

Drink

  • Shoot the Crows is a staple of the Sligo art set. Cramped on busy nights, but always active with a friendly crowd.

Sleep

Numerous bed and breakfasts are situated on the road towards Cairn Hill.
