Stonehenge is a well-known Neolithic period stone monument located on the Salisbury Plain in Wiltshire, England. It is administered by English Heritage and forms a World Heritage Monument. Another more extensive stone circle is located at Avebury.

Understand

Stonehenge is known to very many people and is on the top sites to visit on the UK and maybe even Europe for many arranged tours. The site is conveniently situated between two country roads making it very easy for loads of tourist buses to drop their load. While the view from the A303 is quite nice, otherwise there is not much chance to get a glance from outside the fenced area. You will rather need like all other tourists to park at the visitors parking, pay for your ticket, get the inclusive guide phone in the language of your choice and follow the crowd along the fenced of tarmac path that never lets you very close to the stones. Also very good photographer skills and objective will be required to match the pictures covering a many books in these worlds bookstores

Get in

By Car: Aside the A303 a bit westwards of Salisbury. You can't miss it since it is visible from the A3030.

By Train: Get a train to Salisbury, then take a bus from there.

By Bus: From Salisbury, catch the 'Service 3' bus to Stonehenge (witshire & dorset bus company)
