Taoyuan is an industrial city in northern Taiwan.

Understand
Taoyuan has few distinctive features. However, if you get stranded at CKS International Airport overnight and don't want to pay over the odds at the airport hotel or travel the extra kilometers into Taipei, you might think of spending the night here. If you do, there are several large stores to visit, some good coffee shops to hang out in, and due the amount of overseas workers employed at local factories, several cheap South Asian eateries.

- Located in the coutry-side near Taoyuan is Yuankuang Buddhist Monastery (Yuan-guang sz), which being founded in 1917 makes it is the earliest Buddhist academy in Taiwan.
- Between Taipei and Taoyuan is the interesting pottery town of Yingge. 'Old Street' is lined with stores selling the works of local potters and is a pleasant place to pass a few hours.
