By plane
- Luxembourg Airport is a minor destination about 50 km away.
- Another nearby airport is Frankfurt/Hahn (which is not very close to Frankfurt!). It is about 75 km to the east of Trier. It is a destination for RyanAir.
- Frankfurt International Airport is about 200 km away. The train from there would be about 3 hours via Saarbrücken or Koblenz.

- Porta Nigra gate
- the Roman baths (the Kaiserthermen)
- a Roman theater which used to host 20,000 spectators.

Inexpensive and tasty meals such as pizza (with your choice of toppings), casseroles, salads etc. can be found in the formerly student-owned Astarix next to the theater, in the south-west of the inner city.
